How to Choose a Mobile LED Screen for an Outdoor Event

A mobile LED screen can turn a field, parking lot, or street into a venue. The right choice depends on who needs to see it, from where, and what you plan to show. Use this checklist before you request pricing.

Start with the audience and the sightlines

Walk the site and mark where people will stand or sit. The farthest viewer and the widest viewing angle drive most screen decisions. A screen that looks great from near the stage can be hard to read from the back of a crowd.

Decide what the screen must do: show live camera (IMAG), play video, display sponsor content, or all three. Text-heavy content needs a larger screen or a closer audience than video does.

Check the site before you book

A trailer-mounted screen needs a place to park, level ground, and a clear path in and out.

  • Ground: firm, reasonably level, and able to take the weight of a trailer
  • Access: gates, turns, low branches, and overhead lines on the approach
  • Clearances: space around the unit for setup and safe crowd barriers
  • Orientation: which way the screen faces relative to the sun and the crowd
  • Permits and venue rules: ask the venue or municipality what applies

Plan power and signal

Ask what power the screen needs and whether it comes with its own generator or needs a venue connection. Also confirm how your content gets to the screen: a laptop, a camera feed, or a video switcher.

Send your content team the screen's native resolution and aspect ratio so graphics are built to fit.

Think about daylight and weather

Direct sunlight on a screen makes content harder to see, so shade and orientation matter for daytime events. Ask what the plan is for wind and storms, and who has the authority to pause the show.

Decide who runs it

Some events only need a screen delivered and set up. Others need an operator running content for the whole event. Tell us which you prefer so your quote covers the right level of support.

Frequently asked questions

What should I send when asking for LED screen pricing?

Your date, location, expected attendance, hours of use, whether it is indoors or outdoors, what content you will show, and whether you want an operator.

Can a mobile LED screen be used for a live camera feed?

Often yes, with the right video equipment and operator. Mention live video when you request a quote so it is scoped correctly.
